DEEP UNDER

17.11.08
nice price deal !!! nother pounding hybrid set of low-end killers here from hot-flush, kicking off with the tumbling rhythms and wobbling sublow of ?deep under? - its a track that teeters on the brink of breaks science throughout, keeping itself wrapped up in a relentless bass envelope despite the distractions brought on by constantly evolving skitters - mighty stuff. the rhodes-inflected breaks and bass clash of ?sparkle? offers time for reflection on the flip, borrowing a melodic underlay from some abandoned, dusty jazz-club somewhere strange, tugging you back underground with its careful arrangement if frequencies at the lowest end of the spectrum. righteous
UNEXPECTED LIFE-FORM
12 Inch
17.11.08
todd bodine demonstrates with this ep once again extraordenary taste and skills. after a very successfull excursion on claude van strokes mothership label and his activities as a heavily booked live-act and dj he presents on >unexpected life-form< two brilliant tracks, that seem to burst with their energy. todd bodine apparently has gained a lot of experience how to bunch the impact on both the dancefloor and the musical side and how to turn the result into a wall of sound. and hes doing it by following his own unique style. on the a-side >calypso< captivates you right after a few seconds with its pulsating sequences and a subtle growing energy-level from break to break. developing a drive which wont miss its impact on any floor. >snakeskin< on the flip is homogeneously build around shimmering melody-sequences which create the energy of this track, while the bassline below pulsates warm and deep. sounds like: detroit without kitsch. or like a cross between matthew johnson, robert hood and fabrice lig. to put it in other words: a typical todd bodine release in the best sense. allready a true highlight in the highgradecatalogue in 20

MADE TO PLAY VS. WEARHOUSE MUSIC
12 Inch
17.11.08
made to play brings the noise with the sounds of wearhouse music and head honcho lee mortimer. lee mortimers exciting, sleazy, demented take on house has been kicking the sh*t out of dance floors and festivals the world over. this e.p is not for the faint hearted but is for those who like to rock a big crowd in a ballistic way. when jimi hendrix played not just one but both sides of it at woodstock in the 70s the place went off its tits and when he reverted back to playing the guitar it just couldnt compare and he never quite got over that. lee mortimer is currently reveling in mass support from the likes of switch, claude vonstroke, diplo and kriss akabusi who apparently likes to play these tracks as a post love ritual, naked and chanting awooga! round the camp fire he has in his bedroom. if you want to embellish the feeling of either hendrix or akabusi in the primes of their existences then get stuck into this release and youll feel like a combination of the two peaking on acid.

steffen baumann & stefan hollaender got the inspiration for that track from the shant of an unknown shaman. the hypnotic vocals and the massiv bassline make the track to an bomb somewhere between deep-house & tech-house. the >taste t meets wishes & dreams remix< on has much more progressiv-house elements. the bassline of the original tracks is picked up by a warm but also pumping synth line. the track is released on a 10 inch record.

REFERENCE VS. EP 1 (VS SETH TROXLER & RYAN CROSSON)
12 Inch
14.11.08
beretta grey presents the second record by detroit duo >reference< a.k.a. luke hess & brian kage.. >reference vs. vol 1<, consists of collaboration with other key beretta grey artists ryan crosson and seth troxler. each song was carefully developed by all artists simultaneously. sessions were held at interstellar studios in detroit with all artists present. the initial musical concepts were recorded and written. next, the songs were sent back and forth until the finished product was agreed upon by all parties. in this fashion, the music created provides the character and soul of each artist, but fused together in a way that creates a more detailed account. one perspective alone does not capture the whole story. in this release, a feeling is captured by four artists, giving the listener a bigger picture, which helps to better capture the concepts of sound as it relates to a moment in time

THE RIDDLE OF STEEL

13.11.08
after their first single, guns ‘,n’, bombs are back on the dancefloor with riddle of steel! a new techno classic from usa forefront producers, para one brings it back to french house. unpretentious and unforgivingly badass, l.a.s guns n bombs (including an ima robot member) put the united states outside new york back on my techno map, blow current german electro standards out of the water and give paris’,s new french touch a run for its money. on the dancefloor, this enormous riddle of steel becomes huge! a dark and relantless new track with discreet mainstream sounding excursions that make this take no prisoner techno roller. para one worked more on the entertaining vibe, balancing out the rougher edged electro techno tendencies with welcome moments of daft punk esque levity.

PROFUNDO AMOR (2X12)
2x12 Inch
12.11.08
franco cinelli, one of the most gifted new producers coming out of argentina, presents here six uncompromisingly quirky club bombs. his previous releases on milnor modern and telegraph have just warmed you up to his sound. now dive in to >profundo amor< and get familiar with these intricately programmed club stompers. you can call it minimal, but when these tracks go ripping through a big pa, thats the last word that will be on your mind. with the opening track >flog<, you get a taste of the freaky after-hours grit that alphahouse records is becoming known for. >m26< is a robotic hair-raiser for the new generation. think minus on steroids. >twisted machine< features a stompy groove and some snare work to drive the dancefloor. >vertientes< is a great dj-tool with a low-slung bassline and dancing synths. >c3d< bounces along with a razor bassline and some tricky transitions. and >project 64< finishes off the lp with a synth line that falls out of the ceiling and straight onto the dancefloor. truly inspiring stuff here, from franco. no filler tracks. all of these are a-sides

12.11.08
dj support by dj hell, luciano, troy pierce, davide squillace (dc10, ibiza) and many more... name+relucto first gathered praise as remixers for the aforementioned fool with their demented re rub of drama earlier this year. their debut is a four track vinyl and digital release. longblackcurlyteeth’ is a dark and deadly slice of techno which germinates from stripped sleeparchive style minimalism into a gloopy acid evolution that plunges and skews itself into the sinister depths of foreboding, resonant evil. blueballs picks up the tempo and undulates along a jacking groove of raw metallic, mashed up alien calypso funk. title track spawnofspoon is a demonic mongrel of future styles. this scuzzy hip hop homage is riddled with shredded vocals and mutant bass modulations which explode into a post rave, acid armageddon. alex cotex is in devastating form with his hypnotic rework of lbct, the result is a mesmerising, relentless beast that reverberates a pulsing throb underpinned by a fizzing 303 bassline

12.11.08
ffms premium label for deep & minimal sounds qualitative high above standard dance stuff is back from the summer break. traditionally lnz mastermind pascal feos himself lights the lnz release oven and adds his label cataloque with two endurance track runners. it may surprise, how airly the runner with starting number 1 floats through the colourful wood of golden october, cheered on by moogy mild hookline that strokes the drum body. from time to time the race track passes some clearings, the chilling atmosphere of pascal feos side-project aural float waves at the horizon. but then he trots on and on embraced by the feeling of runners high. with the racing number 2 the >generator child< starts athletic but thoughtful on his tom tom-dymanic soles, more and more leading into an 808-hypnotic run on black asphalt. a >generator child< speech sample trails off in the dusk and an lfo-spiralled veil of mist twirls over the head of the scared kid.

another quality dmx krew masterpiece we at turbo are longtime fans of dmx krew, so its a real honor to work with him again 6 years after his last contribution to our now defunct sub-label white leather. we dont normally trace an artists history or include much biography in our press releases, but we feel the need in this case to pay our respects to a long and brilliant career. with all the crap that gets paraded around nowadays its easy to forget who the real masters are... ed dmx is one of them. ive always held a soft spot for ed, he was one of my favorite producers in the proto-electro heyday. hearing his live version of the knight rider theme at sona (tigas club circa 96) was (believe it or not) a revelation. of all the artists id met up until then, he was the coolest, he could play synths better than anyone id ever heard, he had the balls to do vocals in his live-set but he was a sweet, softspoken, and super funny guy. for reasons ive never understood, eds pop side didnt seem to take off and for awhile things took a distinctly experimental turn... interesting stuff, but a departure

HARDCORE GIRLS EP
12 Inch
10.11.08
a brand new ep from the count & sinden, which showcases their love of all sorts of club music, from garage to r n b, from hip hop to grime. lead track hardcore girls is the sound of the much hyped baltimore breaks scene, evolved, displaced and mutated as only the count & sinden know how. fronted by the hottest thing out of b more since the wire, 17 year old wild child of the mike, rye rye. she has been touring the states with mia and, now signed to interscope, she is set to do big things. her unique and energetic vocal is treated to one of the duo’s best bumpy bass grooves and the combined effect is nothing short of devastating. another new school talent picked up on by the count & sinden is ny. bubbling on the uk underground, she fronts the hardcore, jungle inflected soul that is fool in love. this is pop music for the now and tomorrow, a classic love song set to a raucous jungle inspired backing track which has become a live favourite over the summer.finally we have jme, a legend in the grime scene, known for his tight flows, guest appearances and his boy better know franchise. industry gives an overview of the pit falls of getting involved in the trickiest of games... the music business. and who would want to get involved in that shit!?!

joey puts us under pressure with 5 filtered techhouse-disco-tunes that are strictly made to make anybody sweat.
this is quite simply one of the most glorious records you will hear this year. it would be easy to lazily reference it against classic period rephlex/planet mu stuff (oops, i just did!), and indeed it appears to share some of the same heritage (even going so far as to feature a remix of rephlex artist global goon in its tracklisting) - but chris leary aka ochre is obviously a man on his own mission. gorgeously lush, but at the same time super-funky…as electronic as kraftwerk starring in a remake of tron, yet somehow as pastoral and organic as edward elgar…much like his label-mate ed chamberlain, leary manages that tricky task of being supremely technical in his programming and arrangements, but without losing the heart and soul of the music amidst all the studio trickery. you know that old chestnut often said when referring to vintage or classic music, >they dont make them like that any more<? well they do…and here it is! simply fantastic.

another serious result from our warehouse rummaging! si begg is a man of many musical personalities, his list of aliases is impressive to say the least (bigfoot, buckfunk3000, lenny logan, s.i. futures, zygmunt janowski...). but one of his oldest, and certainly one of his strangest, is cabbage boy. in fact i confess i am old enough to remember his releases in the early 90s on cassette tape under the umbrella of the >cabbage head collective< (which also included such techno notables as cristian vogel & tim wright) - and pretty mental they were too. the lost tapes vol. 1 doesnt disappoint on that front, containing such gems as a remix of 80s pop mysteries frank chickens>we are ninja<, and an electronic cover version of >king kong< by frank zappa (ask your parents...). totally out there, but totally cool at the same time...highly recommended to anyone looking for something with some real personality amidst the hard-drives full of faceless (and usually nameless) digital fluff
